Locations and Campuses

Both Cairns and Townsville Centres offer a wide range of programs, including General English and Academic Preparatory Programs leading to university or TAFE entry. Students have access to campus facilities as well as the opportunity to meet local Australian and international students.

Cairns

Cairns English Language Centre (ELC) is situated on the campus (building A11) of James Cook University (JCU) which is Queensland’s second oldest university and Australia’s leading tropical research university. JCU is located in Tropical North Queensland, one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. JCU has more than 14,000 students in total, with more than 2,000 international students from 105 countries.

JCU offers an extensive range of study choices across its two main campuses in Cairns and Townsville. Over 300 degrees are available spanning: business, information technology, engineering, science, health, education, arts, creative arts and social sciences. The Cairns Centre is surrounded on three sides by rainforest-covered mountains and provides a unique study environment. The campus is situated in Smithfield, 15 kilometres (approximately nine miles) north of the city centre, near the northern beaches of Cairns.

Townsville

Townsville English Language Centre is situated on the city campus of Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE (BRIT), which is the largest provider of Vocational Education and Training in North Queensland. The Institute enrols over 13,500 students every year and has developed very strong external links and strategic relationships with schools, James Cook University, government entities and key industry and community groups.

The Townsville Centre is located in the city centre. It boasts an array of heritage buildings which are complemented by additional modern offices and classrooms set in prize-winning tropical palm and lawn gardens. The campus is ideally positioned close to the central business district and has a long history as a place of education training in Townsville. The international student support officer is located at the Centre.
